The Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholders meeting Saturday will be broadcast exclusively on CNBC and livestreamed on CNBC.com. Chairman and CEO Warren Buffett is expected to field questions from Berkshire Hathaway shareholders who are attending the meeting in Omaha, beginning at 10:15 a.m. The event is always closely watched, but this year's will be noteworthy because Buffett won't have Charlie Munger by his side. Munger, the former vice chairman of Berkshire, was known for his sharp wit, and his absence is being felt by the thousands attending the event. Among the questions that will be top of mind at the "Woodstock or Capitalists" will be what Buffett's mystery holding is.

Around these parts, the honchos at Berkshire do have one key thing in common with Murray: everyone who's met them seems to have a story. Just about everyone who had encountered one of the Berkshire luminaries shared some of the wisdom they imparted. Indeed, it's advice that Buffett echoed at the shareholder meeting on Saturday. In response to a question about advice everyone needs to hear, Buffett urged shareholders to think about the way they'd like their obituaries to read and to pursue life accordingly. An encounter with his friend, Berkshire board member Chris Davis, reminded him of a key piece of advice from Munger: surround yourself with images of your idols.

Donald J. Trump is on trial for 34 felony counts of what could be the dullest sounding crime in New York’s penal code: falsifying business records. Yet, across nine witnesses and two weeks of testimony, jurors have been treated to hours of mesmerizing courtroom theater. There was talk of a sex scandal with a porn star, a surreptitious recording of a future president and the tearful testimony of a former confidante in the glare of the witness stand. There was even a celebrity roll call: Charlie Sheen, Lindsay Lohan and the reality television star Tila Tequila were all name-checked this week, drawing chuckles in the Lower Manhattan courtroom. The phrase “falsifying business records,” however, was not uttered to the jury during testimony.

OMAHA, Nebraska — Warren Buffett said Saturday his designated successor Greg Abel will have the final say on Berkshire Hathaway's investing decisions when the Oracle of Omaha is no longer at the helm. Berkshire investing managers, Todd Combs and Ted Weschler, both former hedge fund managers, have helped Buffett manage a small portion of the stock portfolio (about 10%) for about the last decade. There was speculation that they may take over that portion of the Berkshire CEO role when he is no longer able. But it seems, based on Buffett's latest comments, that Abel will have final decisions on all capital allocation — including stock picks. Berkshire acquired MidAmerican Energy in 1999 and Abel became CEO of the company in 2008, six years before it was renamed Berkshire Hathaway Energy in 2014.

Buffett will have a different crew answering questions alongside him on Saturday. Berkshire’s vice chairmen, Greg Abel and Ajit Jain, will be on hand for much of the day. Shareholders most likely will be focused on what Abel, Buffett’s appointed successor as C.E.O. Bill Stone, chief investment officer at Glenview Trust, has attended 20 Berkshire Hathaway annual shareholder meetings in Omaha, Nebraska. A longtime Warren Buffett disciple and a Berkshire shareholder since 1999, Stone's own investing style has been inspired by the "Oracle of Omaha" — a value-oriented approach with an emphasis on the so-called margin of safety. "You look at stocks, not as pieces of paper, but as businesses," he said in CNBC's latest Pro Talks . Can I possibly forecast that they'll continue to earn these profits?" Ahead of this year's "Woodstock for Capitalists" Saturday, Stone shared what he's learned from Buffett's investing philosophy and what he expects from the annual meeting without the late Charlie Munger.

Testimony on Thursday at former President Donald J. In his testimony, particularly as he was cross-examined, Mr. Davidson and a defense lawyer, Emil Bove, together led the jurors on a whirlwind tour of several gossipy and tawdry deals he had a hand in. CNN —The sight of Tiger Woods wearing a red top and black trousers as he strode down the 18th fairway with throngs of adoring spectators following close behind is the stuff of sporting folklore. The color combination was Woods’ go-to outfit for the fourth and final day of a tournament, which regularly ended with him adding another trophy to his ever-expanding collection. “My mom thought, being a Capricorn, that [red] was my power color, or some BS thing like that, so I end up wearing red and end up winning some golf tournaments,” the 15-time major winner told Fallon. “It’s about athletes being first and designing something for the athlete so that we can perform at a higher level,” Woods said. The number of times the National Security Agency identified Americans or U.S. entities last year in intelligence reports containing information from a high-profile warrantless surveillance program nearly tripled from 2022, the government disclosed on Tuesday. The sharp increase in so-called unmaskings, to more than 31,300 times, arose from attempts by foreign hackers to infiltrate the computer systems of critical infrastructure — not individual people, officials said. In particular, a single intelligence report last year identified a “large number” of potential American entities a hacker sought to breach, the report said. The report was the most recent set of surveillance-related statistics made public each spring by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, providing a measure of transparency into how intelligence agencies use their electronic spying powers.
